We’ve been over in sunny Amsterdam this week at the European Social Media in a Corporate Context conference, run by Communicate Magazine. The event covered a range of topics concerning Social Media for large Corporations, including: the pitfalls of corporate tweeting; using social media to leak news; lifting employee morale through social media & covert corporate virals. Freestyle moderated a session on Building Corporate Communities, with panellists Andrew Thomas (publisher of Communicate), Keith Bennett (Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance) & Molly Flatt (1000 Heads), covering the principles of good community engagement through social media.
There were particularly good sessions from Donald Steel of the BBC who talked about moderating social media content as part of their news reporting, & Polly Markandya of Médicins Sans Frontieres who talked about how Twitter helped get a landing slot at the USSF base in Haiti after the earthquake there. There were also some great workshops during the day, my favourite involved creating an iPad app, which is now available from the Apple App Store (smcc) and includeds some nice video footage of our own Delia Goldsby.
Having worked with TNT in the UK on Social Media Customer Service programmes, I was also very pleased to hear Cecilia Scolaro from TNT presenting their latest social media guidelines, which have also been made available for you to download & reuse!
The next SMCC event will be in London on 2nd June, it would be great to see you there!
